Nah, no way, they’re so completely opposites of each other that that wouldn’t make much sense.
Yeah, the whole point of Cyberpunk is that you’ve gotten to the point where technology is, well, cyber. You’ve got deckers jacking their goddamned brains into the fucking techno-wizard future version of the internet. That wouldn’t work with steam-powered gears trying to run everything.
Also, there needs to be some more goddamn punk in Steampunk. All I’m seeing is gentlemen adventurers and ladies on exploration. Where are the street rats cobbling together robots or some shit?
The problem is that to most people, “Steampunk” is actually code for “Victorian England fashion with fucking gears everywhere for no reason.”
What’s even worse is that having a bunch of gears without steam would probably be Clockpunk, even if we ignore that the gears don’t do anything, but whatever.
